Developing strong relationships with children of all ages is a key consideration at Donhead. Through our House System children have the opportunity to meet up with younger and older children and work together to live out our school mission away from the classroom. Our Buddy Programme is another core element in our school life. Reception children are buddied up with an Elements pupil, with an emphasis on allowing children to work with others who are younger and older than themselves. This creates a sense of belonging and inclusion within the school.
Buddies meet up for a variety of reasons:
- To provide mentoring opportunities
- Reading groups
- Celebrating each other’s work
- Supporting class work
- Having fun together
- Buddy lunchtimes
