Children in Reception and Pre Prep 1 (Year 1) are taught Computing by their class teacher. Core Computing skills are taught from Reception and by the time the children leave Donhead they will have become proficient users of technology. In addition they will have developed their computational thinking through the use of Bee-Bots and unplugged computing, and the children have a good understanding of how to use the Internet for effective research and communication
Ultimately, all pupils are expected to take away from their Computing lessons the skills necessary to implement the use of Computing in all areas of the School curriculum. The Purple Mash scheme of work for Computing is embedded across all year groups.
In addition, Pre Prep children from PP2 (Year 2) enter The Bebras Computing Challenge every November in association with the University of Oxford and Raspberry Pi.
Parenting in a Digital World
2Simple have put together this informative guide to help support you in enabling your child to grow into a responsible digital citizen who is able to keep themselves safe while, at the same time, getting the very best from the digital world. In this guide, you will find tips and advice for each of the key areas of online safety for primary-aged children. Each of these areas is further broken down into tips for parents of children aged 5 to 7 and for those of children aged 7 to 11.
In school we use 2Simple's resources across all age groups. Each child has their own individual log in and parents can access all of their child's work.
